“You’re a Line Producer… What do you do?”

During Pre-production, I put together a rough schedule and determine the budget. It’s a weird, enjoyable pastime that I’ve developed over years of doing this. I really do like that portion of the job. It’s putting together a puzzle with calendars and money.

During Production, I’m overseeing the day-to-day as well as the big picture, making sure we are on schedule and on budget, and more than anything during production, I am a problem solver.

“What kind of art do you make?”

Believe it or not I got a degree for Fine Art at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. That was one of two Bachelor Degrees I earned while attending. My emphasis in Fine Art was in illustration. Any more I have enjoyed doing Character Concept Art and have worked with some amazing writers to make a couple Children’s Books.

“What’s the Difference between a Production Manager and a Line Producer?”

In the Indie portion of the Film Industry, sometimes nothing. However, in the broader world of production, The Line producer is responsible for the strategic-level focus. The Budget, the Schedule, the Contracts and the Money. The Production Manager is more tactical, overseeing Day-to-Day management of the crew, locations, and general operations. I love both of these jobs so, so much.

“What else do you do?”

I am a huge fan of tabletop roleplaying games and board games in general. I’ve even designed a couple and am in the process of getting them play-tested and published. I love the community these games build and am an avid fan of the entertainment community that has grown up around these games. Dropout.tv, Critical Role, MCDM, Mystery Quest, No Rolls Barred, Good Time Society, etc. So, ya know, if someone knows a job opening at any of these places. I’m not above pushing a broom and taking out trash if its at one of these places.
